Landscape Done Right May 8th, 2012
This time I have to ask - where is the sun? Last month I started out asking, "Where has all the water gone?"
That question has been answered in what some us may call a great and big way. I was truly worried about the impact the lack of water would have on landscape. Well at this time with two weeks of damp cool weather, things look great.
Now lets look to the remaining spring. As the nurseries are starting to fill up with beautiful plants and flowers, it is time to plant and plant abundantly. Take a look at your gardens and pick out some open spaces to fill with shrubs and perennials. Here are some quick and easy tips:
Track your sunlight throughout the day in your yard and match with the tags on the plants
Dig out some soil and check out if it looks sandy, rocky, etc. does it clump or just slip through your fingers, then talk to a landscape professional and they can help you with an idea what type of soil you have.
When planting: dig a hole larger than the container of the plant, loosen soil and add fertilizer, lightly scratch root system of plant, place in hole and backfill with dirt compacting lightly as you go, mulch 1.5 - 2" of mulch around plant, water as needed daily for a couple of weeks depending on weather
Color and foliage as well as texture add endless look and joy to your yard. And always remember D&D landscape can be hired to assist with all your landscape needs.
